About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

To create a better world, we have to change our laws and policies. But how exactly do we go about doing that? In this solutions-oriented class, Bella will bring you inside the complex and fascinating regulatory landscape that allows factory farms and the harms they cause to proliferate. The class will offer a presentation, time for questions and reflections, and information on how to get involved in the movement to end factory farming. If you love animals, the Earth, and your community, then this class is for you!

Frequently asked questions

How do I join a Zoom class? What tech equipment do I need?

All you need is an internet or cellular data connection and a device with a screen and sound (computer, laptop, or phone). BU Zoom classes do work best if you install a Zoom app, have access to a keyboard, and good speakers/microphone. See bu-vt.org for help, links, and training videos.

Are captions or other accessibility supports available?

Yes, Zoom events have automatic live captioning. Contact us if you need other assistance or accommodations and we will help if we can. Visit https://betheluniversityvt.org/take-a-class-2/ for more info on class venues and accessibility.

Do I really have to show up? Can I watch the recording later?

You really need to show up live -- please! We do *not* typically post class recordings. BU classes are live learning and community building sessions. Volunteer professors donate their time and often set a minimum number of students. Only sign up if you will show up :)

I registered, but I'm sick or i can't come. How do I cancel?

Look in your Eventbrite registration confirmation email, or login if you have an account or the app. You should see a link to change or cancel your registration. If not, email us at betheluniversityvt@gmail.com.

Do you cancel for snowstorms or bad weather? How do I know?

BU does not typically cancel Zoom events for weather, unless there are widespread power outages. We occasionally cancel or reschedule if a professor is sick or has another emergency. We email students ASAP through Eventbrite with any changes, so please check email before the class.

Is this a real university? Can I get credit for taking a class?

No, BU is not a formal or accredited university. We are a community pop-up university based in Bethel, Vermont. We give everyone the chance to teach, share, and learn.
