WILL TICKETS BE SOLD AT THE EVENT? No, all tickets must be purchased in advance via online ticketing, but mainly because we need to keep a tight headcount before additional beach permits are required.

CAN I COME ALONE? You are more than welcome to come on your own. In fact, we encourage it! The Camping Noire sisterhood is a circle of dope womxn, and there will be plenty of opportunities to form new friendships!

CAN MY KIDS COME? Absolutely, children up to age 13 years old are free to attend. However, children 13 and up must be registered to ensure a beach access wristband is available.

ARE PETS ALLOWED? Yes. Island Beach permits pets, but they must be leashed.

WILL FOOD BE PROVIDED? We invite you to bring your bonfire dinner, but Camping Noire will provide light snacks and s'mores.

ARE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES PERMITTED? According to local ordinances, possessing alcohol on the beach is illegal, and citations can carry hefty fines and even jail time if these guidelines are not followed.

IS SMOKING PERMITTED? No. New Jersey prohibits smoking products or devices in parks and beaches. As with alcohol, citations can carry hefty fines and even jail time if these guidelines are not followed.

WHERE SHOULD I PARK? There is plenty of free parking in the area. For safety reasons, the actual location of where we will be parking and gathering will be provided to registrants two (2) days before the event.

IS THIS EVENT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE? Yes! Island Park Beach provides beach wheelchairs and ramps to ensure everyone can access the beach.

WHAT IF IT RAINS? If the weather is a washout, the scheduled rain date will be Saturday, October 5. Ongoing weather updates will be sent to registrants.

CAN I SELL MY GOODS/SERVICES? We want to support every sister-owned business, and if you wish to vend at any Camping Noire event, there is a $35 fee, and you must bring your own table/blanket. There are no available outlets. Contact us for a vendor application. Until we approve your vendor application, we ask that you do not attend with the intent to vend. All patrons selling without approval will be asked to leave and not receive a refund.

ARE THERE ALTERNATE PAYMENT OPTIONS? To bypass the Eventbrite fees, complete the event registration form here on Eventbrite, enter "3RDPARTYPAYEE" as the promo code during checkout, and submit. From there, proceed to CashApp to complete the payment ($CampingNoire). We will not follow up for incomplete payments, and final event details will not be provided to unregistered participants, so don't hesitate to confirm receipt.

Organized by

Born from the book Camping Noire: the Black Girls Guide to Surviving a Weekend Unplugged, Camping Noire celebrates and encourages daughters of the Diaspora to join the mission to beautifully integrate the landscape of outdoor recreation while also investing in their personal, spiritual, and mental well-being by reconnecting with nature through various other outdoor adventures, including hiking, and -of course - CAMPING! We're not only here to encourage you to TAKE UP SPACE SIS, but our goal is to maximize the representation of black and brown women in natural spaces while also providing a community of sisterhood that promotes safety in outdoor spaces and a reconnection to nature and adventure.

We are the area's ONLY outdoor recreation group in the Northeast Corridor that is created for women of color by a woman of color, and WE'RE HAPPY YOU'RE HERE! This is an OPEN and POSITIVE environment, so whether an expert or beginner camper, bring your whole self (Like seriously, boos -- there is absolutely NO code-switching or Super Woman capes needed here. You can go ahead and leave those home!)! And whether you're tired of lusting over your next adventure, looking to make new girlfriends, are looking to relax, network, or just mingle in the serenity of nature, Camping Noire is the sisterly nature hangout you've been looking for!

Your next adventure awaits, and we'll see you in the woods!!!
