Pennsylvania's outdoor recreation sector adds $14 billion annually to the Commonwealth's economy. And although Lancaster County boasts a bounty of fields, forests, trails, and waterways for outdoor enthusiasts, we lack a coordinated and intentional approach to understanding, supporting, and leveraging this important and growing sector of our economy. This led to the creation of the Lancaster County Outdoor Recreation Economy Initiative – a comprehensive effort led by EDC Lancaster County and partners Lancaster Conservancy, Discover Lancaster, and County of Lancaster that aims to quantify the economic impact of outdoor recreation in Lancaster County and identify opportunities to enhance this vibrant sector.

Event Overview

Current EDC Members are invited to join us for a first look at findings from Phase 1 of the Lancaster County Outdoor Recreation Economy Initiative. This interactive workshop event will include:

  1. High-level overview of project goals and timelines
  2. Short presentation of initial insights from Phase 1
  3. Breakout discussions to garner feedback and questions from attendees

Who Should Attend

This workshop is exclusively offered to employees of current EDC Member companies. Considering the subject matter, we are especially eager to have outdoor recreation enthusiasts in attendance, as well as anyone with an interest in:

  • Urban/regional planning
  • Lancaster's downtowns/boroughs and urban redevelopment
  • Strategies for leveraging outdoor recreation assets in your talent recruitment efforts
  • EDC's long-term economic development strategies

Please Note: Due to capacity constraints, we request that you limit the number of attendees from your business/organization to individuals who are most interested in – and eager to discuss – the development of outdoor recreation strategies for Lancaster County.
