We strive to have engaging and intellectually stimulating discussions. We're here to learn, grow, broaden our horizons and connect with like-minded people. In 2025 we have some more great documentaries to watcha and discuss.

Our Docu Lovers Club will run monthly, online. It's open to all and you're welcome to join our sessions even if you haven't seen the film of the month.

ABOUT THE EVENT

The documentary of March is The Invisible War (2012). It is a powerful documentary about the epidemic of rape of soldiers within the US military, the institutions that perpetuate and cover up its existence, and its profound personal and social consequences. The film has been lauded by advocates, lawmakers, and journalists for its influence on government policies to reduce the prevalence of rape in the armed forces and is a recepient of various awards. It has also been named one of the documentaries that has changed the world - making a positive contribution to solving the problem it repors on.

Synopsis:

The Invisible War is a shocking investigative report on the epidemic of rape amongst soldiers within the U.S. Military. Through the painful retellings of assault by veterans from multiple branches of the Armed Forces, the film shows that not only does the military fail to adequately respond to reports, but often retaliates against the victim rather than the perpetrators, resulting in the forced expulsion of survivors from service. Interviews with survivors, advocates, journalists, and members of the military justice system come together to highlight the need for change in the military’s handling of sexual assault.
