Craft Demonstrations at the Folk Art Center

Join the Southern Highland Craft Guild for daily craft demonstrations at the Folk Art Center in Asheville, NC, running from March through December. From 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, experience the artistry of regional artisans as they showcase their skills in different mediums. These free, hands-on educational events allow visitors to observe the creative process, interact with the artists, and learn about the history and techniques behind their crafts. Attendees can also purchase unique, handcrafted pieces directly from the artisans. This ongoing initiative highlights the craftsmanship that defines the region while supporting local artists and fostering an appreciation for handmade arts.

Yes! We encourage visitors of all ages to interact and learn from these regional master craftspeople.

What kinds of demonstrations take place? What mediums are represented?

Ceramics, textiles, jewelry, sculpture, prints, woodworks, both traditional and contemporary/functional and decorative. We do not represent painting.

Where are you located?

The Folk Art Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway, 10 minutes from downtown Asheville, NC. Directions: take 1-240 East from downtown Asheville and take exit 7. Turn left onto Tunnel Road for about 3 miles and turn right onto the Blue Ridge Parkway. Drive 3 miles and turn left at Milepost 382.
