Crisis Intervention for Dispatchers

This 16-hour Crisis Intervention Training course is designed for public safety dispatchers to learn effective ways to handle crisis situations involving people of all ages. Class topics discussed include mental health concerns and illnesses, problem-solving philosophy, intervention strategies, stress management, and resiliency. Students learn from seasoned dispatchers using a variety of learning activities and role-play scenarios. Students also leave the class knowing the value of identifying various types of mental illness to recognize potential suicidal behaviors and ways to intervene for the best possible outcomes for all involved.

This course provides students with a basic strategy and framework to build on when handling crises professionally and personally. Our instructors ensure students have a comprehensive list of available resources and ideas to help prepare them and their organizations before incidents occur. Students better understand de-escalation techniques and other responses to utilize during crisis events for a successful resolution.
