Back in the 70s, horrormeister Stephen King wrote a short story of bloody revenge called "The Lawnmower Man." Hollywood read the story and decided it would make for a great feature-length film. The only problem is it's just a short story. You can’t just have a killer lawnmower come to life, turn some evil bully into mulch and roll the closing credits.

The Lawnmower Man movie strayed so far from the source material and turned out to be so bad that Stephen King sued the studio and the people who made it to take his name off the project. Do you know how bad that has to be? He KEPT his name on BOTH "Firestarters!"

That means it's perfect for Dallas' only live, interactive, movie mocking comedy show, the Mocky Horror Picture Show! The movie-riffing comedy troupe that performs at the Texas Theatre is bringing their riff of this schlocky tech fest to the La Cantera Arts Conservatory at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 30 and (here's the best part), it's free! All you have to do is RSVP to reserve your seats for the show. Guests are also encouraged to donate to the non-profit La Cantera Arts Conservatory.

Comedians Liz Barksdale, Danny Gallagher and Albie Robles make jokes during the movie while you watch it on the big screen but the fun doesn't stop there. They've also written and edited special prompts in the movie so the audience can yell jokes the crew has written for them and use props during the screening and help them make fun of the movie! They even film special sketches and edit jokes that mess with the movie in other ways. Everyone who shows up gets a special bag of props and maybe a few other surprises like gift cards or even cash!

The Mocky Horror Picture Show is Dallas' only movie riffing, interactive comedy show. They've been riffing on bad movies since 2018 all around Dallas at places like the Texas Theatre and the Alamo Drafthouse in Richardson. The group also performs annually at the It Came from Texas Film Festival in Garland. Follow them on mockyhorror.com and sign up for their newsletter so you can learn more about their Wednesday night Twitch streams and other upcoming shows!

Flamenco Fever (FF) has made the cathartic art of flamenco accessible to DFW by bringing premiere musicians and dancers to entertain and educate across a range of venues for decades. Now, in FF’s most important endeavor to date, La Cantera Arts Conservatory (LCAC), is carving out space to inspire the community with not only flamenco's mental, physical, and spiritual benefits, but in a wide range of activities that are attracting diverse participants beyond their niche.
