Ready to try something new, challenge yourself, and meet an amazing community of fellow adventurers?
Join us for a rock climbing experience designed to encourage more people of color to get into climbing—whether you’re a total beginner or already sending V5s, this event is for you! We’re creating a welcoming and supportive space to help you climb, connect, and build confidence on the wall.

After climbing, keep the good vibes going at our after-party at Idle Hands Brewery 🍻—just a 5-minute walk from the gym. Come through for great convos, laughs, and craft beer (or non-alcoholic options). Plus, $1 from every beer sold will be donated to The Great Malden Outdoors, an organization dedicated to increasing outdoor access for local youth and adults.

This is more than just a climbing session—it’s about building a community, stepping outside of our comfort zones, and making the outdoors more inclusive for POC. Come solo or bring a friend—you’ll leave with new connections and maybe even a new favorite hobby.

The Outside Social Club: We connect and empower people of color to explore the outdoors through affordable and educational adventures in the Greater Boston area. By hosting outdoor events, offering membership perks, and partnering with local businesses, we break barriers, build community, and reclaim nature as a space for everyone—without exception.
The Great Malden Outdoors: Outdoor recreation is for everyone, yet not everyone recreates outside. According to the Outdoor Industry Association Participation Report, 57% of Americans recreate outside, but what about the other 43%? When you look at the data, many groups are missing: ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, and lower-income folks. The goal of The Great Malden Outdoors is to make outdoor recreation equitable for all. The city of Malden, MA has the unique combination of being the 4th most diverse city in the state of Massachusetts and home to a wide array of some of the most accessible outdoor recreation spaces in the country.

Limited street parking is available at the gym and there is a parking lot at the Idle Hands brewery, which is only a 5 minute walk away! If you don't want to drive, you can take the Orange Line to Malden center, which is also a 5 minute walk from Rock Spot!
Absolutely! This event is perfect for beginners. The gym staff will be available to help you get started, and we’ll have experienced climbers in the group to offer tips and encouragement. No prior climbing experience is needed—just a willingness to try something new!
Nope! The gym provides everything you need, including rental shoes. If you have your own climbing gear, you’re welcome to bring it.
Wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows for movement. If you have your own climbing shoes, feel free to bring them! If not, rental shoes are included with your ticket.
Yes! If you’re not climbing but still want to hang out and support the community, come through to Idle Hands Brewery after the climb. It’s a great chance to meet like-minded people and support the fundraiser for The Great Malden Outdoors.
