About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Maybe you've seen a pro sommelier or wine savvy friend saunter up to a nondescript glass of wine and identify its nation of origin or grape variety with a smell and a sip. But is blind tasting all just magic? Or do we all have the skills to narrow down what's in our glass?

Join us for an open-forum blind tasting where we'll explore the core tenets of how to identify a wine and see if we can get to the bottom of what we're tasting. We'll discuss the signposts that the pros use to narrow down things like climate, alcohol content, and winemaking style. We'll unpack how to evaluate a glass of wine by sight, smell, and taste, and how to identify common tasting notes.

Most of all, though, we'll try a few wines without any preconceptions getting in the way. Maybe we'll learn something about our palates! Tasters of all skill levels are encouraged to attend.
