On Saturday April 5th we'll gather in a 4 track conference, which includes lots of long breaks between sessions to connect and make new friends, follow up with speakers, and learn more from climate action tables throughout the space. The tracks will include exciting topics like:

  • An in depth Climate Advocate Training, that includes a mock lobby session to learn CCL's tried and tested method for lobbying your elected officials
  • A representative from Federal Energy Regulatory Commission explaining how electricity markets work
  • Folks from Greenlight America, in how to effectively build support for local clean energy projects such as Batteries and Solar
  • The Tempestry project, that makes fiber arts out of the Climate Warming stripes to really internalize climate impacts
  • A deep dive into progress and challenges of decarbonizing Vassar College
  • And... many more! (see registration page for full program)

In addition, a Friday evening Social will happen on site to connect and share with other volunteers around the region.

Action is the antidote to despair, and our conference will give you the tools to start your action journey immediately. We hope to see you there!

Frequently asked questions

How do I get a refund if I have an emergency?

Refunds can be issued up to 10 days before the event (March 25). If you have an emergency after that, we may or may not be able to offer a partial refund, depending on circumstances. If you need a refund, please contact David at cclneconf@gmail.com.

Are there scholarships available?

We have a few scholarship funds, thanks to the generosity of previous donors. If the cost of registration, travel, and lodging prevent you from attending & bringing your advocacy skills back home, please review the guidelines and application process at https://bit.ly/cclneconf-fundguide

What about lodging?

Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email with links to discounted rates at the Marriott Courtyard Schenectady ($159) and the Hilton DoubleTree ($169), both less than a mile from the venue. (There are also lower priced hotels nearby). Don't delay: discounted rooms are limited!

Are there restaurants nearby?

There are several restaurants and taverns within a mile of the venue. In fact, participants often gather after the event to continue the conversation. A list is available on the "Docs" page of the website.

How can I find out about carpooling or room sharing?

Also in the registration confirmation there will be links to signup sheets if you would like to share a ride or a hotel room. Conference organizers can't arrange these for you, but you will be able to connect with others using these signups.

How can I arrive by train or bus?

Amtrak stops at the Schenectady station about a mile from College Park Hall. Greyhound stops at the corner of State and South Church Streets, also a mile from the venue.

Is there EV charging nearby?

There are four Level-2 (J-1772) chargers in the parking lot outside College Park Hall. For these and other charging locations, see https://www.plugshare.com/location/306838

What is your masking policy?

As of this writing, masks will not be required (subject to change depending on circumstances). However, if you are experiencing any symptoms or have recently been exposed to COVID or other communicable diseases, please get tested, and consider staying home.

Why did I receive two registrations?

If you made a donation to Citizens' Climate Education, your confirmation email will appear to include two "tickets." One is for your registration, and one is for your donation. You don't need to bring either ticket with you to the conference. When you arrive, just register with your name!

Are there accessibility accommodations?

College Park Hall is ADA compliant. Most of the conference is on one level; however, sessions in Room 102A are upstairs. If you need an elevator there is one in the student residence hall, which requires a security guard to open for us. If you need an elevator, please note that when you register.

Organized by

Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) is a non-profit, nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy organization focused on national policies to address climate change.

Our consistently respectful, nonpartisan approach to climate education is designed to create a broad, sustainable foundation for climate action across all geographic regions and political inclinations. By building upon shared values rather than partisan divides, and empowering our supporters to work in keeping with the concerns of their local communities, we work towards the adoption of fair, effective, and sustainable climate change solutions.

In order to generate the political will necessary for passage of the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act we train and support volunteers to build relationships with elected officials, the media and their local community.

Citizens' Climate Education (CCE), since its founding in 2007, has exponentially grown its global coalition to a remarkable 190,000+ registered supporters. Volunteers are organized into over 500 active chapters. Each chapter is run by a Group Leader and supported by State Coordinators and Regional Coordinators. Chapters work closely with their corresponding Congressional Liaison, who is a designated CCE volunteer leader that maintains the ongoing relationship between a specific member of Congress and local CCE chapters within that member’s district or state. At each level of our organizational model, CCE staff provides robust coordination, systems, training, and support to ensure volunteers are successful in their advocacy work. Learn more at https://citizensclimateeducation.org/

Citizens’ Climate Education (CCE) and Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) are sister organizations that complement each other in strategically building political will for impactful climate solutions. CCE is a registered 501(c)(3) organization that provides key trainings, tools, and other educational resources to help volunteers become effective advocates for climate solutions. CCL is a registered 501(c)(4) organization that supports volunteer-led and other direct lobbying efforts on specific climate legislation. Each organization has its own governing board, operating budget, and audited financials. As CCL has a more public-facing presence, most public accomplishments are attributed to it. Nevertheless, most program activities are related to climate education rather than direct lobbying efforts, and come from the CCE budget.
