About this event

A scenic hike is a great way to unwind and unplug. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced hiker, this is the perfect trail to discover the serenity of the lake.

The trail we’ll blaze will be an easy 4-mile loop with minimal inclines and minor elevation changes. We'll introduce you to the ten essentials of hiking travel and the principles of Leave No Trace. All skill sets are welcome; however, children and pets are not permitted on this hike for safety reasons.

We'll see you on the trails!

HIKING DIFFICULTY: Moderately Easy. Approximately 4 miles from start to finish.

RESTROOMS. Located in the environmental center beyond the parking lot, with a few portable toilets along the way, and also in the visitor center near the boat launch.

WHAT TO BRING & WEAR. Trail sneakers or hiking boots are suitable for this terrain. Please wear comfortable hiking gear and remember to pack:

Water
Snacks or lunch
Basic first aid kit (Band-Aids, antiseptic wipes, ibuprofen)
Sunglasses & sunscreen
A backpack to carry it in

PARKING & MEET-UP DETAILS. Parking options and meet-up details will be provided to all registered guests 48 hours before the event. However, please note that we will head towards the trail promptly at 9 am, so please plan accordingly.

INCLEMENT WEATHER. Updates regarding delays or event cancellations will be provided to registered hikers via email and text.

WAIVER REQUIREMENT. All registrants who wish to participate in any activity organized or facilitated by Camping Noire must read and sign the 2025 Camping Noire Release Agreement before arrival. If you do not wish to sign, you will not be permitted to attend the hike. This holds for all attendees, Camping Noire members, guests, and the general public.

We are the area's ONLY outdoor recreation group in the Northeast Corridor that is created for women of color by a woman of color, and WE'RE HAPPY YOU'RE HERE! This is an OPEN and POSITIVE environment, so whether an expert or beginner camper, bring your whole self (Like seriously, boos -- there is absolutely NO code-switching or Super Woman capes needed here. You can go ahead and leave those home!)! And whether you're tired of lusting over your next adventure, looking to make new girlfriends, are looking to relax, network, or just mingle in the serenity of nature, Camping Noire is the sisterly nature hangout you've been looking for!
