  • Event lasts 5 hours

4:00pm We will start at Root Division, where you will have the opportunity to see the current exhibition, Liberties Were Taken (January 22, 2025 – April 12, 2025), the first solo exhibition in the Bay Area of Philippine-based artist Cian Dayrit with curator PJ Policarpio.

4:45pm The bus will leave from Root Division to ICA San José

6:00pm Arrive at ICA San José for the opening of Esteban Raheem Abdul Raheem Samayoa’s first institutional solo exhibition, Blood Be Water (March 22nd, 2025 - August 24, 2025). This exhibition reflects on the power of community as a form of family, questioning how identity is shaped by both lineage and lived experience. Inspired by the biblical act of turning water into wine, Samayoa sees transformation as a sacred force—one that allows individuals to redefine themselves despite inherited circumstances.

The opening night of this incredible exhibition will be accompanied by a vibrant night market showcasing community partners, small businesses, art activities, and live music. With guests joining us from the greater Bay Area and beyond, we invite you to be a part of this extraordinary evening filled with community bonding and celebration.

8:00pm The bus will leave ICA San José and return to Root Division

9:00pm Arrive at Root Division

Thank you to Blood Be Water exhibition sponsors, Pamela and David Hornik, for making an additional gift to offset the cost of the bus.
