Brujas Retreat (The Catskills)

If you’ve been curious about stepping into your own power or want to be in community with like-minded women, this hike is for you. Let’s welcome the solstice together, embrace the energy of the sun, and honor the brujas we are, have been, and are becoming.

Level: Easy to moderate (must be okay with steps!)

Distance: About 2 miles (round trip)

About the hike: Ready to see the highest cascading waterfall in New York State? When I tell you that this hike is just too good, I’m not kidding. This short but steep hike takes you to the base of one of the highest waterfalls in the Catskill Mountains. All in less than two miles, so while a tad steep, it’s ideal for beginners. The water drops 175 feet from the top, past a natural amphitheater created by the overhang of the upper falls cap rock.

Breakdown:

10:00 AM - 10:30 AM: Welcome/Smudging/Introductions

10:30 AM - 12:30 PM: Hike in

12:30 PM - 1:30 PM: Replenish + Guided Journaling by the Waterfall

1:30 PM - 3:00 PM: Hike back/Closing circle

Here’s what to expect:

What’s included:

• Energetic cleanse with Sage and/or Palo Santo
• Grounding Meditation
• Guided Spiritual Hike
• Reclama Journal and Gel Feather Pen
• Guided Sharing Circles

What to Bring:

• Comfortable hiking shoes (the terrain is mostly flat, but there are some rocky areas). If not, sturdy sneakers that aren’t mesh.
• Water and snacks for a peaceful break at one of the viewpoints.

Reclama is a spiritual wellness community helping women of color reclaim themselves through hiking and journaling.

We want to make sure those who come through Reclama, no matter their lack of experience, have the opportunity to connect with nature on their own terms. It’s time we reclaim our space in nature to honor our spirituality and ancestral heritage so we can move forward as a collective.
