About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

There are countless resources on nervous system regulation: breathwork, cold plunges, movement, nature, and more. While these things are incredibly valuable, increasing flexibility and adaptability of our nervous system isn’t only about applying these modalities - it’s about understanding our inner experience on a deep level and learning how to shift our state with awareness and choice. While we can whiteboard the science all day (and will go more into this during our book discussion), the nervous system is best taught and understood through practice and real life experience.

With this understanding, we put our heads together to create a playful, impactful and immersive three-part nervous system experience with horses at the forefront - a magical animal that we as humans have been deeply connected to for centuries, and that naturally help us to understand our own nervous systems and the way we lead ourselves.

This experience begins with a book club expereince, reading Flying Lead Change by Kelly Wendorf—a book that bridges neuroscience, somatic intelligence, and equine wisdom in a practical way to help us better understand how our nervous system shapes the way we lead, connect, and move through life. From there we will discuss and integrate the concepts in relation to our own nervous system, and end with an in person meet-up with horses to bring the understandings to life.

The Journey:

Part 1: The Book Club (We'll start reading the book on April 20th)

We’ll begin by reading Flying Lead Change and engaging in guided reflections on how our nervous system influences our daily lives. This book offers a fresh perspective on resilience, adaptability, and presence—teaching us how to shift from reactivity to response, stress to steadiness, and control to trust.

Part 2: Virtual Book Discussion/Integration (May 7th, 6-8 PM MT, via Zoom) while attending live is always encouraged, the recording will be sent out after the call for those who cannot make it.

After diving into the book, we’ll gather for an interactive virtual session to connect key themes with a deeper scientific understanding of the nervous system. We’ll explore:

  • The fight/flight/freeze/fawn responses and how they show up in our leadership, relationships, and stress cycles.
  • The power of co-regulation—how our state influences others and vice versa.
  • How horses embody nervous system flexibility and what they can teach us about presence and authentic leadership.
This session will provide practical tools for increasing capacity and flexibility, and also recognizing and working with your nervous system states with more awareness and ease

Part 3: In Person Equine Experience (May 16th, 2-5 PM, in person in Morrison, CO)

For those ready to take this work beyond discussion, we’ll close with an optional in-person equine session led by licensed clinical social worker and trauma-informed therapist, Erin Henry, where you’ll experience these concepts in your body and with real life application. Horses provide instant, nonverbal feedback on our nervous system state, offering a powerful mirror for how we show up in the world. This session will give you a felt sense of regulation, presence, and leadership in action, helping you integrate the nervous system work into your everyday life.

Why Join?

  • Learn how to recognize and shift your nervous system state with awareness and intention.
  • Understand the science of co-regulation and how to cultivate nervous system safety in yourself and others.
  • Experience a new way of leading, responding, and trusting yourself, guided by the intuitive wisdom of horses.
  • Move beyond intellectual understanding into embodied learning, integrating nervous system flexibility into daily life.

This unique book club + in-person equine journey is for you if:

  • You want to feel calm, strong, and grounded instead of just pushing through stress.
  • You lead at work, in life, or in your family and want to embody a presence that is powerful yet regulated.
  • You’re curious about how nervous system regulation affects performance, recovery, and leadership.
  • You're a hands on learner

This is about both learning AND feeling the shift in your body. And in the final in-person experience, you’ll step into a space where nervous system mastery, leadership, and presence come alive, with horses as your mirror.
