About this event

  • Event lasts 3 days

✅ YES! your state park fees are covered.

✅ YES! we are feeding you.

Camping offers a ton of benefits, from reconnecting with nature to fostering a sense of adventure and relaxation. Immersed in the outdoors, you can escape the hustle and bustle of daily life, breathe fresh air, and appreciate the beauty of natural landscapes. We do this every summer and want you to be a part.

It's a Physical Workout: Camping also promotes physical activity, whether through hiking, swimming, or simply setting up camp.

Good for the Mind, Too: Unplug from technology, encouraging meaningful connections with people in real life, and oneself around a campfire under the stars.

Open to folk of all ages, all we ask is that you are the adventurous type who enjoy and appreciate the great outdoors. The Black Folk™ Camping Trip is gathering all the "cool folk" and we are marching out to the woods this summer for 4-days of city escaping fun.

If you're "about that life" - the outdoors life that is, then secure your spot and join the chat group as we prepare for this years trip.

Frequently asked questions

WHAT IS CONSIDERED A "CHILD CAMPER"?

Yes, you can bring the kids! Anyone age 3 to 16 is considered a child. Age discretion is soley on the group organizers and you may be required to provide proof of childs age upon arrival to the camp ground. Going on a group camping trip can be incredibly beneficial for children in numerous ways.

CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE CAMPSITE WE WILL BE STAYING AT?

Tillie Creek is about a 3-hour drive north from Los Angeles. The weather will be warm & dry and there should be moderate mobile phone coverage in the area. It is nestled in oak trees on the shores of Lake Isabella, a popular destination for water activities, especially windsurfing and fishing.

WHAT'S ON THE MENU FOR FOOD?

We are serving you dinner for 3 nights in a row. Chef Aaron Lauderdale will be on the grill as he prepares you some of his specialty dishes. Vegetarian options are available. We will collect your dietary preference after you secure your spot.

IF I COME, AM I REQUIRED TO DO ALL THE ACTIVITIES WITH EVERYBODY?

Absolutely not. This Camping Trip is designed for those that want to get away and enjoy the comforts of the outdoors. This may include you participating with new friends, existing friends... or being a complete loner. No matter your reason, we are totally okay with it.

TALK TO ME ABOUT THE GROUP HIKE WE ARE ALL GOING ON?

The group hike is our favorite activity. Yes of course you may go off and explore the great outdoors anytime you want while we are out there. However, please make sure you're a part of our big group hike where we all go as a group.

OHV? ARE WE GOING OFF-ROAD EXPORING?

Off-Highway Vehicles is also something we do, too. Overlanding is self-reliant overland travel to remote destinations where the journey is the principal goal. The difference for us is, instead of spending the night out in the open plains in our vehicles, we return to basecamp after exploring.

HOW ABOUT MOUNTAIN BIKE RIDING?

Yup! So be sure to strap your mountain bike to your car and bring it along. Ripping along trails offers an electrifying blend of adrenaline, nature, and camaraderie. Riders are drawn to the thrill of navigating rugged terrain, feeling the rush of speeding down descents, and conquering obstacles.

We just really enjoy seeing Black people (and others who love them) enjoy themselves. There's something special about connecting the dots for folk to provide networking, positive relationships and things for people to do that's filled with smiles, laughter and living life to it's fullest.

We do not let politics or religion hinder our progress. We love liberals, conservatives, christians, muslims, straight, gay or any combination of any creed... it does not matter. So long as you are a wonderful & positive person, you are welcome.
