Phase 1 of The Beach Cleanup


Phase 1 of our beach cleanup will promptly begin at 12:00 PM, & continue until 1:30 PM, when we will have our Hydration Break.

1:30 PM - 1:50 PM

Hydration Break


At 1:30 we will have a hydration break. This is a time when you should get a drink from either Big Deans Ocean Cafe, or the Hot Dog on a Stick so that you stay hydrated. If you are feeling starved as...

Phase 2 Of The Beach Cleanup


After our Hydration Break, Phase 2 of the Beach Cleanup shall begin. At 2:50, we shall stop our cleanup, gather our participants to thank them, & disperse for the day.

A Beach Cleanup At Santa Monica Beach Hosted By The Persaud Foundation, a California Nonprofit.

This event is hosted by The Persaud Foundation. This is a Beach Cleanup, lasting from 11:30 AM, to 2:50 PM. We will be meeting in the front section of Big Deans Ocean Cafe. We will provide Scoopers, gloves, & Trash Bags. Our Organizer will be wearing a bright orange turtleneck, which will be very easily recognizable. She will also be seen with equipment nearby. Participants are encouraged to bring close toed shoes, a sunhat, & a waterbottle. For more information on the order of events, please consult the Agenda.


Who We Are:

We are a registered 501(c)3 California Nonprofit organization who conducts local conservation events in Southern California, published online courses about marine biology, & publishes an electronic newsletter about marine biology, which can be found at thepersaudcatalog.org. How will we know who the organizer is?

Our organizer will be wearing a bright orange turtleneck at the front of Big Deans Ocean Cafe. If you have any issues locating her, please email the listed email or message the listed cellphone number.

Are we expected to bring anything?

We will be providing scoopers, gloves, & garbage bags. Participants are encouraged to bring a water bottle, & hand sanitizer. Additionally, if the participant is particularly prone to sunburn, we recommend bringing a sunhat & eco-friendly sunscreen.

What is the closest Parking Lot?

The closest parking lot is Beach Lot 1 South. Please be aware that parking in Santa Monica is extremely competitive, & will often require payment. Please be prepared to take a small walk to the meeting area. The next closest lot is Beach Parking Lot North 1, with South Lot 2 & South Lot 3 close by.

What is the address of the establishment that we are meeting at?

Will the event be held Rain or Shine?

Depending on the severity of the weather, we may hold the first phase of the event & then stop there, or cancel the cleanup all together. We prioritize the safety of our participants, & thus will not have them clean up in the rain. If you have any concerns, please email us at our listed email.

Am I able to opt not to be in photographs or videos?

Prior to beginning the beach cleanup, our organizer will take a group photograph with all of our participants in order to put on our social media's as well as website. If you do not wish to be in any photographs, please inform us of this, & you will not be included in anything.

What if I have a large group?

We are more than happy to accommodate your group! Whether it be an Environmental Student Group, or a Group of work Colleagues, we are happy to accommodate you. For groups over 7, All that we ask is that you email us, provide the emails of your group members, as well as a cellphone number.

What if I am only able to show up for Phase 1 or Phase 2 of the cleanup?

We completely understand if you are only able to show up for Phase 1 or Phase 2! If you must leave early, we completely understand. If you must arrive late, please email us with your estimated arrival time, & when you arrive, please inform us of where you are. We appreciate all of our volunteers!

What am I to do if the South Lots are full or closed?

Occasionally, the South Lots will close due to special events. If they are closed, we recommend parking in North Lot 1. If this is inaccessible as well, there is a reliable Parking Structure at 1555 Second Street, called Santa Monica Place Parking Structure 8.
