AWA Foundation Private Tour: The Commons at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County

Join the AWA Foundation for an exciting exploration of the latest addition to the Natural History Museum - THE COMMONS! This new front door to the Museum is a community-facing hub that includes an exhibit space, theater, and café.

Our exclusive morning tour will bring together the women-centric design team who will take us through the design and urban design improvements of THE COMMONS and surrounding gardens/parks. We'll walk the project, hear stories and insights about the origins, design process, and delivery of this unique architecture + landscape addition. We'll also learn more about the evolution of Exposition Park, its role in the 2028 Olympics, and its relationships with the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art and other cultural institutions.

Easiest way to get there?

The museum is directly in front of the Expo Park / USC at-grade light rail station on the E Line of the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. Fares are $1.75 or $0.75 for seniors! https://www.metro.net/riding/guide/how-ride-rail/

Is parking available?

Park below museum for $18. This lot opens at 9:15 and has an elevator. Address: 3724 Bill Robertson Ln, Los Angeles, CA 90037. Additional parking for $20 is available in the Blue Structure @ Expo Park. Address: 550 Exposition Park Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90037. No cash is accepted at either lot.

Where do we meet?

We will gather outside the ground level entrance to the Commons at the new outdoor amphitheater between 9:30 and 10 am. Tour starts promptly at 10am

Will my ticket include admission to the rest of the museum?

Yes, the NHM will waive admission for all tour ticket holders.
