New Bedford Arts & Culture Partners.

This quarterly meeting was established for anyone who does arts, cultural, public, and/or educational programming in the city of New Bedford. We chat about what we have coming up and find ways to coordinate our efforts. It's fun and quite productive. We'd love for you to join us and we welcome you to invite a friend.

Guest Speakers Include:

Emily Ruddock, Executive Director of MassCreative, a statewide advocacy organization dedicated to strengthening the arts and cultural community in Massachusetts. With a passion for advancing arts policy and access, Emily works to ensure the creative sector thrives by engaging with policymakers, artists, and cultural leaders. Through her leadership, MassCreative supports initiatives that promote the value of arts and culture in society.

Mary Sherman, Executive Director of TranCultural Exchange, an organization that fosters global understanding through the arts. Mary connects artists and cultural practitioners across borders, facilitating international collaborations and cultural exchanges. She is dedicated to amplifying the voices of underrepresented communities while fostering creative dialogue and innovation in the arts.

This meeting will be cohosted by AHA! New Bedford, New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park, Seaport Cultural District, and New Bedford Creative.

The Seaport Cultural District stands out for its wicked cool places and events, including AHA! (Art, History, Architecture), New Bedford’s free downtown Cultural Night with over 60 venue partners; DATMA, presenting contemporary public art with the convergence of design, art, and technology; Gallery X, the city’s pioneer art cooperative; New Bedford Art Museum/Artworks! showcasing exhibitions of local and national talent plus arts education for all ages; New Bedford Fishing Heritage Center celebrating the history and culture of New Bedford’s commercial fishing industry; New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park, the heart of the historical heritage of the city, featuring the Corson Makerspace and an artist-in-residence program; New Bedford Whaling Museum, the touchstone to the region’s past informing a sustainable future; New Bedford Historical Society celebrating the history and legacy of African Americans, Cape Verdeans, Native Americans, and other people of color at the Nathan and Polly Johnson House and soon-to-be-developed Abolition Row Park; and Zeiterion Performing Arts Center, presenting nationally and internationally acclaimed performing artists, and home to New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, New Bedford Festival Theatre, New Bedford Ballet, New Bedford Folk Festival, and Southcoast Children’s Theatre. Each summer, the annual Seaport Art Walk features temporary sculpture and murals along New Bedford’s working waterfront.
