We're excited to host the second show in our 'An Evening With' series, bringing in virtuoso musicians from around the globe right here to the Van Dyck in Schenectady! Joining us on Friday, April 4th is violinist Sara Caswell, who is widely recognized as one of today’s foremost jazz violinists, celebrated for her lyricism and technical facility. A Grammy nominee, Caswell has been featured in DownBeat's critics and readers polls annually since 2013. Her artistry and unique sound prompted internationally renowned jazz educator David Baker to write, “Sara Caswell is a brilliant, world-class violinist . . . one of the very best of the present generation of emerging young jazz stars.”

Caswell has released three highly acclaimed albums under her own name, with the most recent being The Way to You (2023, Anzic Records). She has performed at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, the Village Vanguard, Birdland Jazz Club, Jazz at Lincoln Center, SFJAZZ, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Barbican Centre, and Blue Note (NYC and Tokyo). Her talents have also been showcased at numerous jazz festivals such as Newport, Montreal, Montreux, North Sea, Banlieues Bleues, and recently right here in the capital region at the 2024 Saratoga Jazz Festival.

Sara will be joined by Killdeer Trio, and incredible jazz trio comprised of guitarist Wyatt Ambrose, bassist Even Jagels, and drummer Sebastian Green. The name Killdeer Trio comes from the “Killdeer” bird, commonly found in the Upstate NY — the region each member was raised, and now currently resides. Their music is deeply influenced by the rural environment in which it was conceived, reflecting both its quiet serenity, and constant invitation to explore the surrounding unknown. Killdeer Trio blends deep grooves, folk-like melodies, searing electric guitar, and free improvisation into a unique sound that rides the line between Modern Jazz, and popular music, creating an experience that is accessible to audiences of all kinds.

We're thrilled to welcome these incredible artists to Schenectady for An Evening With: Sara Caswell on 4/4/25!
