Want the best medical care? Then learn how to be your own geriatrician!
Overview: Geriatricians are physicians trained to care for older adults. There is only one of them for every 10,000 people in this country. This critical shortage is a scary proposition. Most physicians know little about aging and the complexities of the aging body, which leads to both over and under treatment. Older adults (and those who care for them) need to know how to advocate before they walk into the exam room.
What To Expect: Join us for a conversation and Q&A with Dr. Charlotte Carlson, a Sutter geriatrician who practices in Santa Rosa. Dr. Carlson will help all of us ask the right questions and get appropriate care when we interact with practitioners. She can also provide the best response when a doctor asks, “What do you expect for someone your age?”
