About this event

5Rhythms® is a shamanic movement practice created by Gabrielle Roth and practiced by tens of thousands of people around the world.

Gabrielle saw dance as a sacred community ritual, much like so many ancient, tribal societies who came before her did. She taught that energy moves through the universe and our bodies in 5 essential rhythms that she called Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness.

When we dance a full cycle of the 5Rhythms, which is called a Wave, we get a chance to shake out our fears, open our hearts, shatter the ego’s hold and edge-walk into new ways of moving and perceiving. We get to channel the most juicy, unpredictable and fascinating parts of our selves. “Put the psyche in motion,” Gabrielle said, “and the body will heal itself.”

This is a practice for all ages, all shapes, all sizes, all genders and all abilities. Y’all means y’all!

There’s an elevator for accessibility.

How We Come Together

Barefoot or minimal footwear - no street shoes.
Listen to your body - follow the Rhythms at a pace that feels good to you.
Keep your eyes (mostly) open. Keep your feet (mostly) on the ground.
Respect your own boundaries and the boundaries of others.
If you accidentally bump into someone, please find a way to acknowledge it.
No experience necessary - just come as you are!
And pack water.

Session conducted by Tim Doody, a certified 5Rhythms teacher.
