NERRA not-for-profit organization has been formed to organize and host the symposium beginning now and into the future. The objectives of the National Environment and Recreation Research Association are: 1) to foster an interdisciplinary scientific understanding of the relationships between humans and the natural environment in outdoor recreation and tourism-related contexts; 2) to further the application of social science information in natural resource decision-making; and 3) to provide a mechanism for social scientists, resource managers, practitioners, agency personnel, and decision makers to discuss and exchange information and knowledge.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Hilton offers plenty of on-site parking with two options.

Option 1: Guests who are booked within the group block receive self-parking in the garage at a discounted rate of $10.00 per day per vehicle. Our current overnight self-parking charge is $25.00. Entrance is located on 30th street between Pacific Avenue and Atlantic Avenue, overnight guests will pull a ticket upon entry, park the vehicle starting on the 2nd floor, you must bring the parking ticket to the front desk for validation, front desk will provide the guests with a barcode that will be placed on the ticket that was pulled. This allows for in-out privileges during their stay.

Option 2: Valet service is available at $30.00 per day per vehicle. Valet is 24 hours.

Monday night is our free night in Virginia Beach to explore, shop and dine in the area.

Please take advantage of the group rate and stay an extra night at the beginning or the end of the symposium. Guestrooms are limited on Saturday night so those who book early get this perk.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Yes registration ticket is transferrable until March 21, 2025. There is a $20.00 processing fee to make the change.


Can I update my registration information?

Yes, on-line at anytime until March 28, 2025. Thereafter please go to the NERR registration desk on the first day of the Symposium. TIP: Please make sure your info is correct before we print it on your namebadge.


Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, but we recommend keeping it on file.


What is the refund policy?

All refund requests must be submitted in writing via e-mail to the NERRA Treasurer (Andy Holdnak) no later than March 21, 2025; refund requests received after this date cannot be processed

Can I pay with a check?

Yes, but remember in order to qualify for early-bird pricing you need to pay before the deadline. Please make the check out to National Environment and Recreation Research Association but mail NERRA registration check(s) to;

Will there be a silent & live auction this year?

Yes, and it will benefit NERRA student scholarships to the symposium in the future. All attendees are encouraged to bring a donation. Sharon Todd is the Silent Auction chair if you have any questions or ideas. sharon.todd@cortland.edu

The National Environment and Recreation Research Symposium (formerly the Northeastern Recreation Research Symposium) provides an opportunity for recreation and natural resource resource researchers to present research findings. The symposium provides opportunities for professionals to discuss current issues and problems in the field. The Symposium also provides students with the opportunity of presenting their research in a setting that is both positive and constructive.
