About this event

Join Sultana Education Foundation this fall for an extended paddling excursion to the lower Delmarva.  Striking out each day from base camp at the award-winning Atlantic Hotel in historic Berlin, Maryland, participants in this trip will spend four days exploring the back bays of Assateague Island and the primeval cypress swamps of the upper Pocomoke River – widely regarded as one of the finest flat-water paddling destinations on the East Coast.   Most days include a half-day of flat-water paddling followed by time to explore local culture and relax.

This trip is limited to 10 participants, and with the exception of one dinner, trip fees include all meals, lodging, paddling gear, and round-trip transportation from Chestertown/Easton.

 *A Note About Lodging Options

Participants have the choice of Standard or Deluxe rooms, and single or double occupancy.   Standard rooms feature a full bed and private bath with a stand-up shower.  Deluxe rooms feature either a queen or king bed with a private bath that has a tub and shower.

Join our staff for a unique kayak excursion on the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail. Most paddles take place on Maryland’s upper Eastern Shore, and each paddle features a unique theme. During a typical voyage, participants paddle through scenic, underdeveloped portions of one of the Bay’s tributaries while learning about regional flora and fauna specific to that location.  The Foundation is taking extra steps to ensure the safety of its staff and program participants. Social distancing guidelines will be followed, each paddle will be kept to 10 participants. Most paddles are 2.5 hours long at $35 per person.  Kayaks and gear are provided but if you have a personal floatation device--please bring it!  You will also need water, a snack, and even your binoculars! Minimum age to participate is 12.
