The Florida Family Team, the Florida branch of the Family Team of the American Association for Marriage & Family Therapy, has offered a series of workshops to educate MFTs in the state on legislative process and the individual practitioner’s role in that process. This workshop will focus on updating participants on the legislative agenda for the 2025 FL Legislative session, bills that have been filed that will impact the MFT professionals of our state, and advocacy actions each MFT can take to support efforts to enact legislation for the MFT profession in Florida.
Learning Objectives:
- Initiate an active role in advocacy with policy decisions.
- Practice effective communication strategies for communicating with elected officials and key decision-makers.
- Engage in the processes involved in advocating for legislation important to Marriage and Family Therapists.
- Engage with legislative committees, state agencies, and regulatory boards.
