Barrels & Beer is an annual event in partnership with Anderson Regional Joint Water System. This is our way of promoting water education, local businesses, and interacting with the community.
At this event, participants can paint a rain barrel, enjoy a beer, and listen to some brief environmental presentations. Previous presenters include Clemson Extension, Native Plant Society, and Upstate Forever. This is a family-friendly event, so bring the whole family, and paint a rain barrel together. There will be a free kids' activity available.
This year, we have a theme for our Barrels & Beer event: Fiesta de la Tierra. This theme blends the timing of Cinco de Mayo and the related festivities with the NACD's National Stewardship Week's theme of "Home is Where the Habitat is." This theme highlights the vital role native habitats play in sustaining biodiversity, storing carbon, and protecting soil and water resources. When animals, plants, and aquatic life have healthy habitats, it benefits us all by ensuring ecosystem stability, enhancing natural beauty, supporting clean air and water, and creating a resilient and sustainable environment.
