On Eventbrite, it’s always music season, and Eventbrite is releasing the top music genres people are going out to see and dance to in each state, based on 2021-2022 event data.

Whether you’re looking to mingle as you show off your menealito to the latest reggaeton hit, or line-dancing at the nearest honkytonk, Eventbrite is the place to find people who love the same music as you do.

Read on to learn about what Americans are jamming out to.

Hip Hop Nation: Hip hop and rap is the #1 music genre in 40% of states, followed by rock in 30%

Turning Down the Lights: Only three states like EDM best: Nevada, New Mexico and Oregon

Move Over, Country: While Nashville may claim it’s the home of country music, there are over 120% more Blues & Jazz events on Eventbrite in Tennessee than Country events

(Not) Rock Lobster: Lobster must taste best with folk music, because that’s what Mainers are going out to enjoy

Xavier Henderson, co-founder of Los Angeles’ SoulfulofNoise and a member of Eventbrite’s new Creator Collective, supports independent musicians and artists and hosts Soulful Sundays, the biggest open mic in the nation. On Hip Hop and Rap being the #1 genre for music across the most states, he shares, “Hip hop’s top spot is a reflection of our society’s desire to amplify Black Voices. Black Voices that have been repressed for centuries are now regularly showcased in media outlets and on stages across the world. I am grateful that Eventbrite has helped create a space for this beautiful expression to be shared.”
