Building on his skills as a producer and DJ, entrepreneur Blaq Pages founded the events company Enjoyment Worldwide, hosting hugely successful club nights and day parties in the US and beyond, to a soundtrack of Afrobeats, Amapiano Afro House, Afropop, Dancehall, R&B and more.

Pages has a passion for delivering exceptional experiences that surpass customer expectations, and says he is spurred on by seeing the meaningful impact of his work – whether that be the building of “valuable connections in the community or seeing the joy on people’s faces at these events”.

Here he shares why creating culture and cultivating community is the driving force behind his business, and why you should always expect the unexpected as an events organizer.

What I love most about being an event creator is the sheer variety and creativity involved in bringing an event to life. I love bringing people together and creating a community of people who love African music, art, food, and culture.

I’m thrilled to foster a collaborative and dynamic environment. Creating a culture where creativity is encouraged, where team members are empowered to contribute their unique ideas, and where there’s a shared passion for delivering exceptional experiences is incredibly rewarding.

My proudest achievement as an event organizer is successfully delivering an event that surpasses expectations. Whether that’s by flawlessly managing all aspects of a large-scale conference or festival, or by making a meaningful impact, such as fostering valuable connections in the community, or creating immense joy for attendees.

The most memorable feedback from a customer is when they see the effort put into each event. Everyone enjoying themselves and seeing the joy on people’s faces at these events.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned as an events organizer is the importance of flexibility and adaptability. Despite meticulous planning, unexpected challenges and changes are inevitable. Being able to pivot quickly, stay calm under pressure, and find creative solutions on the fly can make a significant difference in the success of an event.

Clear communication and teamwork is key. Building strong relationships with vendors, clients, and team members helps ensure everyone is on the same page and working towards a common goal. This collaboration is crucial for navigating the complexities of event planning and execution.

Establishing my business as a leading player in the event industry, known for exceptional quality and innovative solutions, would be a significant milestone. I’d aim to expand the scope and scale of the events we organize, reaching new markets and audiences. This could involve hosting larger, more diverse events or branching into new types of events that align with emerging trends and interests. This would build a strong brand, earning industry recognition, and creating lasting relationships with clients and partners.

In five years time, I see myself organizing some of the biggest music festivals, concerts, experiences and travels. for the business, expanding in reach, team growth and innovation.

If I had to choose one song or piece of music that sums up the spirit of my events it would be Burna Boy’s It’s Plenty. The song talks about celebration, living life, and enjoying yourself. That’s what we promote to the people at Enjoyment Worldwide.
