Getting tickets to live events shouldn’t be an endurance test or an exercise in frustration. Unfortunately, scalpers, ticketing bots, and the secondary market have made buying tickets to some events a complicated, costly, and time-consuming process.
Fans are the heartbeat of live events, which is why Eventbrite is working to ensure that the ticket-buying experience is fair, transparent, and reliable for all attendees. Eventbrite is supporting the US Senate’s Fans First Act (S. 3457): landmark bipartisan legislation that will mandate ticket-pricing transparency, ban deceptive advertising and websites, and even ban fake tickets.
Read on to learn why (and hear from) two Eventbrite organizers who are supporting this legislation.
How to Support the Fans First Act
We need the support of event organizers and attendees to help the Fans First Act become federal law. Join us in telling Congress to enact comprehensive ticketing reform to protect consumers, empower creative economic development, and restore trust in the ticketing experience for fans and artists.
Use the tool linked here to send a pre-written message to your representative and senators, encouraging them to champion comprehensive ticketing reform legislation. It’s quick, easy, and ensures your voice is heard by your representatives in Congress.
Don’t just take it from us: Watch the videos below to hear directly from two event organizers who are supporting this legislation and encouraging event attendees to do the same.
Whitney LaMora, Dorothy
Whitney LaMora, creative director at Chicago’s lesbian cocktail lounge Dorothy, relies on Eventbrite to ticket a wide range of programming: singles mixers, a book club, trivia nights, and drag shows.
“In our community, everything is about trust,” LaMora says. “Live event goers deserve fair, honest, and transparent buying experiences — period.”

Prashant, Bollywood Dreams Entertainment
Prashant, a DJ and community event organizer in Portland, Ore., founded Bollywood Dreams Entertainment to host his trademark Jai Ho! dance parties and events celebrating Holi, the Hindu Festival of Colors. Prashant tours the US hosting his events in different cities and venues, using Eventbrite to manage those dispersed events all at once.
He’s supporting the Fans First Act because, as he says, “[It’s] going to help make your experience of purchasing tickets for events honest, transparent, reliable, and fair.”

Learn More About Fix the Tix
Last year, Eventbrite joined the steering committee of Fix the Tix, helping to lead a diverse coalition of 30-plus organizations that are committed to fostering fairness and transparency in ticketing through federal legislation. Fix the Tix was founded by the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) and is composed of independent venues, the performing arts industry, artists, independent ticketing companies, the music industry, and labor organizations.
Working with Fix the Tix, we want to ensure that everyone can get tickets to see their favorite musician or celebrate their favorite event without jumping through hoops. You can help make that possible by using your voice to let Congress know that you support the Fans First Act.
